Katherine Eleanora | 7.10.2017

This little one is not so little any longer. She’ll be 6 months soon! My sister Jessica and her husband, Nathan along with their daughter, Sofia, welcomed Katherine into their home last July. I took these soon after she was born and then we did a mini newborn session followed by another session once they moved to their new home. So many favorites!

We see so much of this little smile now! She is such a happy baby and laughs easily.

Sofia is a sweet big sister!

Welcome to the family Katherine!!

Arrington Extended Family Photos | December 2017

We were so excited to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s with my brother and his family. It was a first time for a lot of us to meet their little girl, Raena too! The week was filled with a lot of visiting, eating and cousin time. We also made a point to get a new family photo with Grandma, kids, spouses and all NINE grandchildren. The last time we did a group shot there were only 2 grandkids.

Despite the grey and very cold morning, I think we did pretty well. And the big group shot was accomplished in just 3 takes and on a timer! Not too bad.

A Weekend in Castroville | 11.2013

Last weekend we went for a two night stay in Castroville with Adriana, Matt and Maria. I wanted to help her with any organizing or cleaning before the baby came and also just hang out. I miss not having them closer. I want Maria and William (and his soon to arrive cousins) plenty of time together as they grow up.

William did 100x better than the last time we stayed with them. He didn’t fuss about going to bed or taking naps which was great. The time change on Sunday did mess him up a bit though and we were up pretty early that day as well as Monday. Sleeping in the same room with him isn’t ideal though with all the noise he makes and then we are like extra careful to not make too much noise either but it works. I am just glad the screaming and crying was at a minimum.

Castroville is such a cute small town and all decked out for fall which I love. We went out Friday night to explore Nite in Old Castroville. Let’s just say it wasn’t First Thursday on SoCo. Still an adventure nonetheless with a sleepy 20 month old.

We were looking for food but all we found was a small trailer so we opted for tacos to go on the way home which were amazing.

I can’t get enough of the historic homes! I would live here especially with that yellow!! I’d be on the porch all the time.

Stopping to say hello to the kittens. I think Maria needs one.

I want to check this place out the next time sans kids. Looks fun!

Friday night I helped Adriana finish up a batch of kolaches while we watched Despicable Me 2. She had the dough and toppings all ready so I helped form and top. They were delicious and actually better the next morning. I had brought a jar of Pumpkin Butter from Trader Joe’s for Matt’s birthday so we broke into it for a few toppings as well. Such a good idea.

She also did cheese and strawberry. They were all wonderful combos and I want to make them again.

William and Maria are quite the pair. Taking things from each other was the theme of the weekend.

For dinner Saturday night Adriana whipped out a couple pizzas.

Maria was a taste tester and helped pat the dough out….when she wasn’t stealing bites. She is just like her mama, loves dough.

After William ate dinner he joined the party and kept an eye on the toppings until cheese came into the picture. Then both of them were snacking on cheese.

Yum! I could go for a slice of this now…..

Sunday morning was very long with the time change and getting up at 5:30am. After a lazy morning (and a little cleaning on my part) we headed off to the Le Chat Noir for brunch in the courtyard. I only took a couple photos on FB and Instagram because I just wanted to enjoy the surroundings, food and people. The food was so delicious, I can’t wait to go back.

Love this shot of them drinking water and eating cereal for snack. William would sneak some out of Maria’s bowl when his was empty. Smart boy.

Looking forward to more time with them this weekend!

Hop on over to the Vignette blog for more photos from our weekend.

William | 14 Months | 05.08.2013

Well, we have a walker on our hands now! Exciting times. We spend most of our evenings after dinner watching him walk around the living room, back and forth and in circles. We usually have music on too so there is some dancing thrown in as well. It’s easy to see by his smile and the giggles that he really likes walking. I feel like it’s his practice stage right now. He’s still getting used to it. Pretty soon he’ll be running and I’ll be trying to keep up.

He’s also figured out how to climb. So far it’s only onto the ottoman. We push it up against the couch and he loves to be up there. In the mornings I’ll drink my coffee and we’ll sit together on the couch. He’s usually rolling around or going from one end to the other but sometimes he’ll cuddle too. I take what I can get.

He’s been going through some teething for the past month as well. A lower canine and upper molar. Both do not look pleasant. He still sleeps great at night but his napping has become very inconsistent. Some days I’ll get two but most it’s just one.

Being outside is still his favorite place. I can’t wait to get back to the pool with him. He loves water so I am hoping he isn’t as freaked out by the pool, like last year.
New words are being added to his vocabulary all the time….apple is the newest. I can tell he understands more of what I say to him but he is still very stubborn and wants to do things his way. No is a big word in my vocabulary these days.

I can’t wait for his 15 month well visit next month to see his new ‘stats’. I also want to find out if we can safely turn his car seat to forward facing. His legs are TOOO long!
